Sunday Scribblings - "Happy Ending"

She took an oath to make a change in her lifestyle.

So she joined a gym, got up at 6am five days a week to work out for an hour.

She kept off the junk food, ate healthily and sensibly, and did not succumb to temptations.

Eventually she lost weight, becoming half the person she had been physically and twice the person she had been mentally.

What's more, she found the determination to continue that lifestyle and keep the weight off both her body and her mind.

And that, my dears, is what I call a happy ending.

I was about to say the same thing as brinda - it's a fairy tale, a fantasy that we would all like to believe :)

Wait....so if I put on twice my weight, my brains are going to shrink?

Brin, Lekhni: Also an urban myth, or a fable :)

A happy ending indeed. Lots of will power and determination. I love how losing in one area helps you to gain in another.

Now that's a happy ending through sheer determination. And very well done.

Oh yes, this is a happy ending. So wonderful that not only did she loose weight but gained in strength in other ways.

I like this happy ending - but it's almost more of a happy beginning. :)

I found your blog via El's latest post. I have been reading your stuff for about an hour now and enjoying much of it immensely. I am a recently retired Language Arts teacher and free to go for those fantasy searches and journeys I had to put off to make a living.
I took issue with your comments about teaching, but then, I felt I really did a helluva job in spite of the obstacles for doing a great job.
I have seen the popular blogs, as I am new myself, but now I am going for the more interesting people. enjoyed every moment of my visit with you. Thanks for blogging.

This is not fantasy as some readers have suggested. Once the first steps are achieved, the happiness that a new body brings encourages that bew beginning that is also a happy ending.

In your on words, cuz, 'Bwahahaha'. This is a super post, I say. I tried to comment twice before and something went wrong, so I gave up. But, through sheer DETERMINATION, I am back to post this comment;)

I'm guessing not a fable...

Why is being thin/ half your size associated with all things good/ happy? I don't ever geddit. Surely if she was healthy she would be happier than if she were thin? Although I do agree that the gym's greatest gift to the concientious is determination and mental strength.
