Salivating for...

South Indian-style boondi laddoo with kalkandu, the occasional kaju and drakshai or clove (cant think of the Tamil word for it at the moment) that you might encounter within... PROPER boondi laddoo, not the Northie-style motichur. I think the laddoo I'm dreaming of is usually served/made for kalyanams. *sighhhhhh*

*Kalkandu - lump white sugar pieces
*Kaju - cashewnut
*Drakshai - sultanas/raisins

*Kalyanams - weddings

Why oh why do you have to go and give a detailed description? I can almost taste it. Almost being the killer word here! Grrr...

Btw, Clove - Kraambu.

I agree with boo - I was enjoying a peaceful evening, and now you've gone and stirred things up and filled me with an unfulfillable longing for those laddoos. my faourite part is crunching into the bits of kalkandi. The cashews and raisins come a close second. And then licking off the sugary goodness from the corners of your mouth...I know I'm going to have laddoo dreams tonight!
By the way, clove is krambu in Tamil.

You're gonna make 'em & post them on the food blog, right? May I add you have no choice?

Ok now I want it too. I'm going to take revenge on you. This very evening I happen to be going to a place very close to a shop that sells the most wonderful boondi laadu.. complete with the occasional clove and raisin.... and I am going to eat them and get back and describe it to you in detail. Muhahahah!

wish i could write you a comment on this one...sadly, i am not a foodie.. and i am most certainly not fond of sweets!!!

btw, since you write about food too, i thought i should tell you this, the boondi laddoo is really popular in marwadi weddings too..they make these HUGE laddoos that are served to friends and family.. interestingly, they are also fond of eating a combination of boondi and sevia (dont know how to write that in english, but you know what iam talking about na? those fried things made with gram flour).so there, i have given you my random thoughts on the boondi laddoo!!

Boo, Kamini, CW: You know how a joy shared is a joy doubled? :) Misery shared is... well, misery shared. :) But at least it's shared! :D

Shruthi, Brinda: I'm not sure I like you any more :( Isnt it enough that you can get 'em w/o having to rub that fact in? :)

Mandira: Normally I'm not crazy about sweets... but I just had this sudden, very vivid craving for it yesterday! :)

Maya-ji: Congratulations and best wishes re the apartment! I wish I could be there too. Hope to see the renovated apartment sometime... !

Hi Shyam- You seem to be a great cook, so you must know how to make them! But not as much fun as buying them and getting to savor them immediately, right?
