Forgot to post this on my blog on Monday, but heyho, at least I managed to get it across to Madeleine's blog! Also, it's not exactly the same as what I posted there - I've tweaked it just a teensy bit because I think it sounds better. Is this much too contrived? What do you think?

Went out feeling quite uptight.
He took a gander

And took a chunk from his ear in a fight.

Anu: Oh well, I guess it's too obscure a reference? :) Evander Holyfield. Mike Tyson, the heavyweight boxer, tore a chunk off Evander's ear in a fight. And that is the ONLY fact I know about this horrible so-called "sport".
See - I didn't even know that much...
Not only did I get the reference, but I was hoping someone would use my line as an excuse to write about that strange incident.
By the way, I think this version is a bit clearer that the one you posted on my blog. :)
