I'd like to be a book, too!

You might have noticed that I tend to rant about the weird and/or seriously annoying news items here... but this time it's not a rant, it's a salute to a positively cool idea, something in which I'd LOVE to take part. Isnt it just the best way of getting to grips with things? You actually get to talk with the object(s) of your stereotypes and prejudices! Brilliant!

or you might end up 'reading' a real gasbag who cant stop talking. unlike a real book you cannot just shut it and walk away. you will feel that you have to be polite to 'this book'. i find myself very underwhelmed by this idea

anyone who wants to get an insight into you can read your blog. so you are a open blook' (i know bad pun);-)

Heehee... the idea of being polite to a book is cute :) But yeah, I didnt think of the flip side... still, I was hoping more to be read than reading (typically self-centred?) :)

dont worry about being self centred. it is the book's job to grab your attention. if it does not , discard it callously and turn your attentions to a new suitor, so to speak.

nonononono!!! the whole point of a book is that it doesnt talk back!! and, like meera says, you can't shove it back on the shelf. (and ok, am a bit slow -- but honestly, HOW does this thing work? and why call it a library? and why the false labels? and so on... as you see, i'm not hugely enamoured!)

*sigh*

Am I destined to be alone on this one?

I s'pose it's like speed-dating except that you're not dating, and it's not speedy? :D At its worst, it's a way of getting to know other people. That's not TOO bad, is it? :)

are you QUITE mad, shyam? a way of getting to know other people, indeed! books are meant to AVOID having to meet other people... sigh! that i have to explain this...

Don't worry, Shyam - I'm with you :) I think it is a fantastic idea! I would love to be both Book and Reader, by turns...

Brinda, that's what happens to a Shyam when she's been away from her real-life friends for so long. :P

You should move to the UK to keep poor lonely Shyam company. Hey! That's a great job description - lady's companion :D :D Betcha that's not a common occupation!

May I borrow you, Shyam? :-)

Lady's companion!! Georgette Heyer, where are you? But Radha, that's a great idea -- you think the visa office will buy it?

Brinda: What Radha said.

Radha: What Brinda said after :)

Brinda: That's not a valid reason not to apply for the visa!!!

CW: Yes, if I can borrow you after! :D

What a brilliant idea! Thanks for the pointer, I had not read about this in any of the papers I skimmed through last week.

Shyam, this is my second time at your place. I had left a comment yesterday, not sure if you got a chance to see it. Just wanted to let you know that I loved your writing and have taken the liberty to blogroll you. Trust that's okay with you?
